Smoked Turkey - Valentine's day dinner for my 3 favorite guys
This was awesome!! The best thing I have smoked yet. I bought a 7 pound Turkey breast. I soaked it in a brine for 8 hours which consisted of 10 cups water, 1/2 cup Kosher salt, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup soy sauce and a tsp of cayenne pepper. Then I made a wet rub:
2 T. Brown Sugar
2 T. Kosher Salt
1 T. Paprika
2 tsp mustard powder
2 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp marjoram
2 tsp sage
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp pepper
1 1/2 T. Olive oil
rub all over bird - even under the skin.
Then I smoked it for just over 3 hours between 250 and 270. It was melt in your mouth good.
Matt couldn't keep his hand off my breast!

Graduation BBQ
We just happened to have a lot of family up in June from out of town to visit so we had quite the turn out at Logan's graduation. Here is a picture of my Grandma, my Aunt Marcella, Uncle Del and Uncle Dave. We ended up with over 50 people at the BBQ.
Matt - the head chef - making cheese burgers.
My good friends; the Sijer's Michelle, Reese, Mike, Melea and their two dogs Sally and Tally - don't ask me which is which. My father-in-law calls them thing 1 and thing 2.
on lookers watching badminton
This is a picture of me and my cousins, the only grandkid missing was my brother David. Oldest to youngest; Me, Laurie, Morgan, Christopher, Cameron, Jenna, Julia, Sarah and Makenna.
And here we are trying to get the great-grands to co-operate - I love how the first 3 are saying heck with this. In order of our age; Me, Laurie, Morgan, Christopher, Cameron, Jenna, Logan, Julia, Aaron, Sarah, Makenna, Chloe, Avery, Cason, Jace & Emmett. I think that is the right order.
A picture of my lovely grandmother, she will be 90 this fall.
Kaden (just like something his dad would have done at this age) running around with a spider on his hand.
Logan opening his cards.
Serious business here, croquet. I guess they were picking out ball colors??
Fire time, it was pretty chilly out, it actually frosted that night.
Matt's cousin Michael and his wife Mindie.
Kaden relaxing on the hammock.
Kaden driving the Max with Uncle Matt. He loved that.
Kaden and I had to wrap up his mom and dad on the hammock so they couldn't get up.
Then later....out came the potato gun, Mai wanted to know why we didn't get this out the first time she came to visit. We didn't want her to see what hillbillies we really are! I think Grandma Pam enjoyed it just a little too much.
All and all the graduation party was a lot of fun - except for Sparky and Jasper fighting all night, once they had their first fight during dinner it just continued rest of the night, I guess they were just cranky like any other kid would get because they had both been up at 5 with me and neither one of them got a nap in all day. They usually don't act that bad. They both ended up spending time in time out. Thanks to everyone for sharing this great achievement with Logan, he took off after opening cards and stayed out all night. Then started work full time the following Monday.

Logan's Graduation
Graduation went pretty well, Logan was the 2nd to march in as they go by height, so what does that tell you (we grow them big, I am sure Aaron will be first at his height).
Nah, he's not nervous.
This is my nephew Jeremiah, he was also graduating.
Looks like one happy camper to me.
.Logan, Uncle Shane and Cousin Kaden. I think that is a thumbs up from Kaden.....and who is the guy sitting on Logan's shoulder??
Aaron and Logan (Logan is on the step)
They actually let them throw their hats, which was a first for Newport.
